Roydell Williams: An endangered WR? - (08/25)

A lingering ankle injury has prevented veteran WR Roydell Williams from making much of an impact this preseason. The bothersome ankle ended Roydell’s brief six-play appearance during Friday’s loss to the Falcons. According to recent media reports, Roydell’s chances of contributing as a Titan in 2008 may come down to this week, as the team prepares [...]

Continuing our series on AFC South opponents from a Titans’ perspective, we now turn to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In a game marred by penalties and personal fouls, the Titans were defeated by the Falcons in a 17-3 snooze-fest. The two squads combined for 17 penalties in a contest that seemed to mean a [...]

Titans Team Report (Yahoo! Sports) - (08/25)

When the Tennessee Titans drafted Cortland Finnegan out of Samford in the seventh round in 2006, they knew they were getting a good athlete and a player with some football ability. Finnegan, after all, had been the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year as a senior in the Division I-AA conference. What they could not have known at the time was that they were getting a player who would, in just over two years, become an integral part of a top-five defense and the top cornerback on the team. After all, the Titans at the time had to have believed that player on their roster was the mercurial Adam "Pacman" Jones. While Jones and his laundry list of problems have been shipped off to Dallas, the Titans are quite happy with the way things panned out with...

Titans break camp with dizzy bat race - (08/21)

One of my favorite days at training camp is the last one. As camp progresses, things start to get more repetitive and increasingly boring but I always look forward to the last day and the annual Dizzy Bat Race. If you haven’t seen it before, I highly recommend you go to the final day of camp [...]

No backing out of retirement for McNair (AP) - (08/21)

There are no grudges between Steve McNair and the Tennessee Titans. Also, no one tried to stop the quarterback from stepping on the property this time around, either. Retirement has that effect on people. McNair visited the Tennessee Titans on their final day of training camp Wednesday in his first visit to the team's property since being told in April 2006 that he couldn't work out here anymore...

Forty players have already made the Titans? final roster - (08/18)

Which Titans will get the final 13 roster spots? It’s now just a little past the midway point in the preseason and every NFL team will have to trim its roster to 75 players on August 26 and then to 53 players on August 30. Now that we’ve passed the halfway mark, it’s a good time [...]

Snapper savors NFL career that nearly wasn't (AP) - (08/18)

Snapping the football for field goals and punts isn't one of the NFL's glamorous jobs. Imagine playing with your head down looking back through your legs with opponents shoving to reach the kicker. One bad snap can spell unemployment. Ken Amato, who waited nearly five years after finishing college before making an NFL team, couldn't be happier.

The root of Titan passing woes: Vince or the receivers? - (08/16)

Many of us sat in anguish as we watched Vince Young’s not so stellar 4-of-13 passing performance last night. During some instances, the passes were incomplete due to Young’s poor footwork. On other passing attempts, Titan receivers failed to gain the separation that makes the quaterback’s job of throwing the football a whole lot easier. It’s [...]

Fisher insists Young looking good at QB for Titans (AP) - (08/16)

Vince Young bounced a pass to a receiver, overthrew another and finished his play by throwing five straight incompletions to the sound of some boos from the home fans. Through two exhibitions, he has completed seven passes in the seven series he has played. If this is what the Tennessee Titans call offensive rhythm, then something is missing so far.

Titans top Raiders, 17-16, on last second FG - (08/15)

The Tennessee Titans continued their winning ways in the 2008 preseason, beating the Oakland Raiders, 17-16, on a 33 yard field goal by John Vaughn as time expired. Despite the good result, though, the Titans have a lot of work left to do as neither Vince Young nor Kerry Collins completed as many as [...]
