Bengals Team Report (Yahoo! Sports) - (08/25)

Three preseason games down, with the fourth and final scheduled for Aug. 28, and the Bengals are among many in the league that look a mess. They're 1-2 and have been steamrolled in the past two home losses to the Lions and Saints. The first-team defense, an admitted work in progress under first-year coordinator Mike Zimmer, has been the better half of the team. It's the high-priced offense, missing starting wide receivers Chad Johnson (shoulder) and T.J. Houshmandzadeh (hamstring) and starting tailback Rudi Johnson (hamstring), that has struggled more than expected. In 10 series the past two games with Carson Palmer at quarterback, the offense has punted eight times, been intercepted once and had its best drive end in a blocked field goal.

Still Looking for Signs - (08/24)

Well, I took the family to the game last night.  We left with 5:00 left in the first half.  I’d seen enough.  No offense, no defense, no blocking, no points, no life, no nothing.  I love the Bengals.  I’m (still) proud to say that.  But, I’m really scared this team is going to break my heart [...]

In a game that was supposed to be a dress rehearsal for the regular season, it looked more like a rehearsal dinner with Carson Palmer as the main course.   I don’t know the last time I saw Carson under more duress (against backups at times) than I did tonite.  In the end former teammate Kevin [...]

When: 7:35 Saturday Where: Paul Brown Stadium TV: Channel 12 HD Radio: 700 WLW, 92.5 FM, and 1530 HOMER Records: Bengals 1-1; Saints 1-1 Notes: After their dismal performance Sunday night against Detroit, let’s all hope the Bengals come out a little more focused in this one. Preseason game #3 is always the “dress rehearsal” for the regular season, so we’ll likely [...]

The hits keep coming for the Bengals wide receiving corp as #3 receiver candidate Marcus Maxwell has been lost for the season with an unspecified injury and has been waived injured.  Bengals spin-meister extra-ordinaire Geoff Hobson even used the injury in an effort to make the receiver situation even worse by saying “means the top four receivers look [...]
