49ers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports) - (08/25)
Moments after San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Nolan announced that the No. 1 overall pick in the 2005 draft would not be his starting quarterback at the start of the regular season, Nolan was asked about the perception that Alex Smith is now officially a bust. Journeyman J.T. O'Sullivan is scheduled to be the 49ers' starting quarterback when the regular season opens Sept. 7 against the Arizona Cardinals. Smith will be holding a clipboard and many have already affixed him with the "bust" label. "The perception is wrong if that's the perception," Nolan said. He explained, "I think he's getting better and better right now. He needs consistency and continuity, which we all do.

The drama has ended and we can finally get some sleep tonight. Mike Nolan as named J.T. O’Sullivan to be the opening day starter for the 49ers. Locked and loaded: 49ers offense firing on cylinders in win against Bears - (08/21)
I don’t have to go too much into detail on today’s performance, but I will say that this team is ready for the start of the season. First of all, I will address the defense. You may think that the 37-30 win by the Niners was just an offensive show. And you are correct. The [...]

Now before you go all [...]

it’s really fun to see a new guy come out of nowhere to lead a team to victory. In the 49ers’ case, a victory by a “new” quarterback may be a blessing that blows beyond what we could have imagined.
Shaun Hill, who has spent six years in the league, got his first NFL start and [...]

Vikings score early, defeat 49ers 27-7 - (12/09)
When the 49ers second play of the game ended up as 7 points for the Vikings, it was game over from there. In a game where the 49ers really had everything set up for them, especially great field position, the team couldn’t punch it in.
However, credit must be given to Tarvaris Jackson. His ability [...]

Alex Smith needs to be shut down this season - (12/07)
The 49ers could announce today the status of quarterback Alex Smith, more than likely announcing that the quarterback will no longer play the rest of the season. With that shoulder injury months ago, Smith has not recovered.

49ers should have drafted Rodgers - (12/04)
Alex Smith will go through a light throwing session on Wednesday, to test his shoulder and to see what the news is on it. Somehow, I want to care about it, but I feel that it wouldn’t matter for this season, or the rest of the 49ers if Smith returns. In this three very abrupt [...]
